On Set for Vogue and Vanity Fair

Internship on December 18th, 2009 No Comments

As my internship came to an end I had the great opportunity to assist on two large scale photo shoots with Annie Leibovitz. The first being a Vogue shoot with some well known fashion designers and the second being a Vanity Fair shoot with several high profile actors and directors. While I can’t reveal names, I can say that was an extreme pleasure getting to see these people beyond the masks of TV and movies. You gain a respect for them when you are able to see a much more real side to them despite their sinfully good lucks and charm. However I gain an even bigger respect for all of the people behind the scenes making the talent look as good as they do. I’m not just talking about the photo assistants because there is also rental studio crews, truck drivers, catering, makeup artists, groomers, stylists, publicists, and everything else in between. Being able to see the pre-production, production, shoot, and post-production stages, I can now better assess what’s necessary in making a shoot successful… and let me tell you it was much more than I thought. If you’d like to see some of Annie’s behind the scenes shoots, I’m pretty sure you can see them on Vanity Fair or Vogue’s websites. If all else fails, I guarantee the YouTuber’s of the world will have it up.
