Simply Thought Out
This is my latest conceptual ad for Simply Lemonade. The headline is meant to be minimal to reflect the simplicity of the product (after all it’s just lemons, water, and sugar—no preservatives). I always get excited to shoot food/drinks because after the shoot it’s mine to enjoy… and for those who don’t know me, lemonade (and this one in particular) happens to be my favorite drink of all time. Photographing small objects such as lemons presents a challenge because I’m using high powered strobes that emit light in all direction. So that leaves me with very fine tuning of the lights to produce the right shadows and highlights which mold the shape of the lemon. I had to use a whole bunch of reflectors, 5 degree grid spots, and soft-boxes just to achieve a relatively simple image. I wish I had stepped back and taken a picture of the setup because it would help you better understand exactly what I am talking about. Then my roommate cheerfully posed (even though it was past midnight) as the pondering individual seen below.
