Annie Leibovitz Internship
I wanted to wait until I was positive that I would be interning at Annie Leibovitz’s studio before I posted this. Well, it seems as though I will be in the Big Apple for my winter break working under one of the greatest minds in contemporary photography. Although she has been in the news recently for her financial fiasco it is undeniable the genius behind the images she and her team creates. As an intern I will be working with her archivist as well as conducting visual research for upcoming shoots. I already had the chance to visit her studio early September and it was located in a very beautiful street within Greenwich Village.
On a side note, I found out just how ridiculous NYC apartment prices can be. I knew they were going to be expensive but I didn’t think I would have to go without eating just to afford rent. Not only that but how difficult it is to reach an actual human on Craigslist. After many days of constant emails, I was able to get in touch with a friend who graciously offered his own place. It may be in Staten Island but I’m not complaining.

Like devanshi I’m a teenager who is devoted to fashion photography and I’ve always wondered what it takes to get an internship with Annie Liebovitz. I have heard she’s hard to work under, but she is an amazing photographer and I’m sure a wonderful teacher as well.
Any suggestions/tips for getting an internship that you would be able to give would be hugely appreciated
Thank you!
I hope my emails helped everyone understand the internship process a little better. Thanks for the interest
Thats amazing! How did you end up getting this?
Same question. I need an internship! Congratulations to you.
how did you manage to procure an internship with such a personality? I’d love to hear about the process also!
Nice post, it gives me some inpirations, thanks.
Hi jim!
I know you’ve gotten a lot of responses about how to intern for her, but I was wondering the same thing? Any help or insight on how you got your internship would be greatly appreciated. I’m currently a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design and would love love love to possibly intern for her one day as well.
Thanks so much,
Whitney
Hey, Jim. First of all huge Congrats on your internship with Annie Leibovitz. I know by reading all the comments above you’ve gotten this a lot. But is there anyway you could tell me how you went about to get the internship with her. I’ve searched on the web and I couldn’t ever find anything that really talked about it other than you.I’ve been trying to find out how to contact her for a while now but she doesn’t seem to have a website or anything, her own. I am a student at the Unviersity of Central Oklahoma and I’m wanting to apply for her internship for the summer and/or next fall. Please, if you wouldn’t mind letting me know that would be great, and very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello,
First congrats on your internship. I hope you had the best internship. I am wondering how you went about getting your internship. Annie Leibovitz is the reason I went into photograpy and I would love to intern with her. I know you get this a lot but if you can give me any information on how you went about this I would really appraciate it!
Thank you,
Caileigh
Hello,
Congrats on the intership.
Again just wondered the general details on how you came across this chance! Also did you do a university degree, or just went straight for an internship.
Any info would be appreciated!
Thankyou
Laura
Hi Jim,
Wow, Congratulations on the internship. What an opportunity! I like a lot of the people who already commented, am looking to find a photography internship. Currently a college student wondering about how you went about getting the position. Any information would be a big help– even beginning with your initial contact with the studio.
Thanks so much and congrats again!

Found you when googling Interning for Annie L.–
this is a dream of course for many, my son included.
My Q for you is different: are/were you a student, and did you go art school or Univ. route?!
Son is agonizing on his school choice right now. Great scholarships offered, but still considering the good state U- a campus and social life, though he is passionate and extremely driven in his photography. We visited a sr. level class there, and he knew all they were doing… will have to rely on one-on-one attention really anywhere.
SO please tell me if the likes of the Annie’s really care about the school– or just portfolio and your ‘chops’?!!
